Living Sport is a local charity dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the people of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough through participation in sport and physical activity.
We are passionate about sport and physical activity and ensuring that everyone has access to opportunities to participate whatever their circumstances.
Living Sport, the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Sports Partnership was established initially as a Company Limited by Guarantee and attained Charitable status in 2008. Its staff team operates from the Lakeside Lodge Complex in Pidley, central to our partnership area. Living Sport is governed by a Board of Trustees which includes members from business, local government, sport and education.
Living Sport is part of the County Sports Partnerships Network, one of 44 County Sports Partnerships (CSP’s) across England, formed in 2006 to raise the profile, and engagement, of sport with local strategic partnerships, and to increase community participation in sport. County Sports Partnerships are supported by Sport England with substantial funds from the Sport Lottery.
Living Sport is currently working towards satisfying the standards of the UK Code for Sport Governance and has signed up to the Sport & Recreation Alliance Principles of Good Governance for the Sport and Recreation Sector. Living Sport has the Child Protection in Sport Unit Advanced Standard for Safeguarding & Protecting Children & Young People in Sport and the Foundation Level of the Equality Standards for Sport and is committed to achieving the Preliminary level.
Living Sport’s purpose
Living Sport’s purpose is to inspire everyone to lead healthy lives by increasing and improving opportunities to be active and to participate in sport and physical activity.
Living Sport Strategic Plan 2017-2021 will help us to achieve our purpose by strategically focusing on 4 areas of the community who are currently the least active segments of our county, these are:
- Older people
- Disabled people
- Women and girls
- Focused areas of identified need
How we will do this is by:
- Improving the promotion of sport and physical activity, through the effective use of insight and market research, to engage a wider audience
- Supporting organisations delivery sport and physical activity to operate effectively, with a particular focus on developing their workforce
- Playing a leading role advocating and influencing the improvement in connections locally to address our identified needs, including consortiums seeking resources.

A flagship event for Living Sport is our Annual Sports Awards held in November each year which we deliver with the support of the Cambridge News. This is a wonderful celebration of the fabulous work of our local sporting workforce, and the fantastic achievements of these volunteers, clubs and teams.
Our support for the sporting workforce is also in the education and training programmes that we deliver and the information advice and guidance we provide to improve the quality and quantity of sports delivery.
