Living Sport is a local charity dedicated to improving the health and well being of the people of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough through participation in sport and physical activity.
We are passionate about sport and physical activity and ensuring that everyone has access to opportunities to participate whatever their circumstances.
Living Sport, the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Sports Partnership was established initially as a Company Limited by Guarantee and attained Charitable status in 2007. Its staff team operates from the Lakeside Lodge Complex in Pidley, central to our partnership area. Living Sport is governed by a Board of Trustees which includes members from business, local government, sport and education.
Living Sport is part of the County Sports Partnerships Network, one of 44 County Sports Partnerships (CSP’s) across England, formed in 2006 to raise the profile, and engagement, of sport with local strategic partnerships, and to increase community participation in sport. County Sports Partnerships are supported by Sport England with substantial funds from the Sport Lottery.
To inspire everyone to lead healthy lives by increasing and improving opportunities to be active and to participate in sport and physical activity.
Our work relies on the solid relationships we have built with key strategic partners including local authorities, national governing bodies of sport (NGBs), educational establishments, commercial partners and local health organisations with whom we promote the importance and value of sport and highlight the benefits it can bring to local communities. These partnerships are fundamental to our success and we are extremely proud to support sports clubs, organisations and the sporting workforce, working to improve the quality and quantity of sport delivered in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, with a particular focus on disability sport, to make a positive difference to our community
Living Sport’s purpose
A local sport and physical activity charity which connects and supports communities to deliver high quality events and activities.
With the Sport Lottery funding through Sport England Living Sport is responsible for delivering a number of sports programmes, detailed in full in the Our Work section of this website. This includes a number of the Government’s Olympic Legacy initiatives, such as Sportivate, which supports an increasing range of different organisations to increase participation in sport amongst 11 – 25 year olds. Further support is available to sports clubs through the Club Satellite programme
We are also responsible for the delivery of the County Festivals for the Sainsbury’s School Games in partnership with all the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Schools through the 5 School Sports Partnerships.
A flagship event for Living Sport is our Annual Sports Awards held in November each year which we deliver with the support of the Cambridge News. This is a wonderful celebration of the fabulous work of our local sporting workforce, and the fantastic achievements of these volunteers, clubs and teams.
Our support for the sporting workforce is also in the education and training programmes that we deliver and the information advice and guidance we provide to improve the quality and quantity of sports delivery.
