Local charity Forever Active who provide affordable exercise classes for people aged 50+ have teamed up with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) and designed a CPD to support sport and physical activity professional when delivering to older adults.
The 2 hour workshop on 12 October 2018 in Milton, will be led by Simon Hanna, Clinical Exercise Specialist with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT). Simon’s role with the CPFT is to develop and co-ordinate evidence based community and health care exercise programmes for older adults and for people with Long Term Conditions across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, with a focus on preventing falls and promoting independence. This workshop is ideal for any body who is either a sports coach/facilitator or
involved in a club who are trying to increase adult participation levels. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and share experiences.
Areas covered will include; The ageing process (40yrs+), Ideas for a warm up and cool down (what not to do), Understanding medication and the effects on exercise, Understanding a pre‐exercise health questionnaire covering Heart problems, Breathing problems, Musculoskeletal, Post knee/hip operations, High/Low blood pressure
