Fifteen teams from Peterborough and Fenland businesses battled it out on the track in the KMX Kart Active Workplaces Business Grand Prix at the Peterborough Tour Cycle Series yesterday to celebrate the launch of Active Workplaces.
Green Charity Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT) stormed to victory in the final of the Business Grand Prix with Cross Keys 2 taking second position and Coca Cola 1 completing the podium.
PECT’s win was impressive after winning Heat 2 ahead of Green Wheel Cycles, who claimed a credible fourth place in the final after losing a close battle with Coca Cola 1 for a podium spot.
Buckles Solicitors may be disappointed with their final standing of sixth position after a comprehensive victory in Heat 1, with tired legs a probable factor, while Heat 1 runners-up Cross Keys Homes 2 claimed the same placing in the final.
Congratulations must go to all teams representing Axiom Housing, Buckles Solicitors, Coca Cola, Cross Keys Homes, Green Wheel Cycles, Nene Park Trust, Peterborough City Council, Peterborough Environment City Trust, Royal Haskoning, Stirling Maynard and Partners, Supercuts and Vivacity.
Hugh Cripps, PECT Chief Executive, said, ‘Our team had a fantastic time and were delighted to win. We have Active Workplace tai chi classes on Friday lunchtimes which we’re all really enjoying. It’s great to have an activity to do together and it’s so important to have an active lifestyle. I’d definitely recommend it to other organisations.’

We spend 60% of our time at work so LIVING SPORT is offering businesses an Active Workplace 12 week sport and physical activity programme, free of charge, to help their employees to become fitter, happier and healthier and more productive.
If your business wants an Active Workplace programme please contact Ejaz Moghul, Active Workplaces Coordinator, 01487 849913 or activeworkplaces@livingsport.co.uk.
