LIVING SPORT, County Sports Partnership for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough is organising a Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport Conference in partnership with Cambridgeshire Football Association and Cambridgeshire Cricket Board on Thursday 30th September at the Burgess Hall in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.
The Conference is aimed at raising awareness about child protection in sport. It is targeted at local authorities, sports facilities, the education and commercial sector as well as sports clubs, coaches and any other member of the public who wishes to learn more about Safeguarding and Protecting Children.
The benefits of attending this event include an opportunity to Network with likeminded people, refresh your knowledge or learn more about the current legislation/recommendations, exchange examples of good practice and gain informal Continual Professional Development.
An interactive drama performance by Geese Theatre Company will bring safeguarding issues alive through sports based scenarios. In this case, the scenario will be set in a sports club.
LIVING SPORT’s Chief Executive, Simon Fairhall says that “The interactive theatre piece that GEESE have developed around this very important subject is excellent, thoroughly realistic scenarios for sports facilities and Sports Clubs provoking plenty of thought, discussion and hopefully action. This Conference is important for sports organisations working to make sport a safe environment for children and young people, challenging to ensure implementation of good policies and practices”
Key local contacts such as the Cambridgeshire Police, Local Safeguarding Children Boards and Social care services will also be available for further information.
Tickets are available as a special package with £10 for one ticket, only £5 for a second ticket and a third ticket is then free.
The Conference is divided into two sessions. The Afternoon session for local authorities and professionals will be from 1pm until 5pm. And the Evening session for sports clubs, coaches and member of the public will be from 6pm until 9pm.
Free food will also be available including a buffet lunch and high tea.
To book online, please visit the LIVING SPORT website (www.livingsport.co.uk) or contact Lucy Vollborth on 01487 841559 and lucy.vollborth@livingsport.co.uk for more information.
