Ely gets Dancing

Dancing is restarting at The Maltings in Ely on the Monday 27th September from 2pm until 4pm at a introductory offer.  Newcomers welcome.

LIVING SPORT’s1  Dancing for Fun and Better Health2  from Age UK ‘fit as a fiddle’ 3 programme works in partnership with East Cambridgeshire District Council4 and The Maltings 5 to provide a special afternoon of dancing for those aged 50+.

Dancing is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, keep fit and mobile, and of course to have fun.  The class includes a wonderful afternoon tea and a selection of homemade cakes provided by The Maltings.  The class costs £5 per person, but the 27th September has the special re-introductory offer of just £3.50 per person.

Maureen the Dance Teacher who leads the dance describes ‘ The Maltings is a beautiful venue ideal for dancing.  I include Ballroom, Sequence, Latin and some Line Dancing within the programme to get people moving, and to make sure the dance caters for those with or without partners.  We also have beginners corner and recaps for those who are new to dance or just need a little reminder!  We want everyone to feel very welcome’

Claire Smith the Dancing for Fun and Better Health coordinator says ‘the class has been very popular and we are looking forward to getting the class back up and running after the summer break.  Its a great chance to get dressed up and  have a lovely afternoon out with friends and make new ones’

1)      Dancing for Fun and Better Health: Dancing for Fun provides dance and movement classes for adults (50+) within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. 3)      Fit as a Fiddle (www.fitasafiddle.org.uk) is a national portfolio of projects led by Age UK, developed and delivered by a national coalition of partners to meet the demands of demographic changes and increased life expectancy.  The portfolio has been made possible thanks to a £15 million grant from the Big Lottery Wellbeing Fund.
