Dancing for Fun Bursary Re opens: Get help to Dance in 2011!
LIVING SPORT’s 1 Dancing for Fun and Better Health project2 from Age UK ‘fit as a fiddle’3 programme has reopened its Bursary scheme and is accepting proposals until January 10th 2011.
Dancing for Fun and Better Health Bursaries are designed to help independent dance and movement teachers, organisations, venues, and community groups, sheltered housing to develop dance and movement opportunities for their local 50+ community within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We can provide financial support for the first 10weeks and ongoing partnership support to help you establish a fun, safe and sustainable class, that your local community can enjoy.
Claire Smith the Movement and Dance Coordinator says ‘With the population demographic transforming to an aging population, dance and movement teachers as well as local communities need to increase their physical activity provision for older adults, not only as a social, fun activity, but also to improve and prolong their health and wellbeing. As an independent dance teacher it is a cliental group that is growing and you can not afford to not include them within your business model, the ‘grey pound’ is a increasing market opportunity, as well as being great fun and rewarding to work with.’
Following our last round of bursaries we are currently working with partners to set up a range of classes from Egyptian dance, Zumba Gold (Zumba designed for the 50+), Chair based exercise and a Tea Dance, all starting in the new year! For more information on these please see our website on www.livingsport.co.uk or call 01487 849912.
Not worked with older adults before – don’t worry! We will be offering a An introduction to working with older adults within a dance and movement setting workshop in the new year. Please contact Claire on 01487 849912 for more information.
