    Sarah joined LIVING SPORT in March 2008 as Workforce Administrator. Sarah had previously worked for Xerox Office Supplies before taking time out to raise her family.

    Sarah’s main roles are coordinating our finance system, HR and ensuring the efficient operation of LIVING SPORT.

    Sarah is a keen Netball player and got back into the game when she attended a Back to Netball session at her local leisure centre. Sarah is now a Level 1 coach. Sarah helps coach the Juniors and also plays for Hawks Netball Club.

    Helen has been with LIVING SPORT since May 2009 and has worked on the East-Links: Leading the field project, established a Coaching System Support Network and is currently leading on the development of COACHING:HQ, a coaching recruitment service trading under LIVING SPORT Services CIC.

    Helen’s main vision is better coaches, coaching more! With this in mind, COACHING:HQ is focussing on recruiting high quality coaches, developing them and deploying them within the County.

    A key aspect of Helen’s role is coach focussed and she is looking at communicating with any and every coach who is delivering (or not currently delivering) locally to ensure they are supported, have access to training and development opportunities and are up to date with ever changing legislation.     Helen is a Level 2 Hockey Coach herself and is currently coaching at her club, St.Ives HC and within England Hockey’s Single System.

    Ryan joined the LIVING SPORT team in September 2011 as Sports Development Officer after completing a four-year Sports Management degree at Bournemouth University. Ryan previously worked for LIVING SPORT as a placement student as part of his degree from July 2009 – August 2010.

    Ryan’s role will mainly focus on two legacy projects linked with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games; Sports Makers and the School Games. He will also work closely to support the delivery of events for 2011/12 through involvement with the Sports Awards and Youth Games PLUS, while assisting with LIVING SPORT’s Coach Education Programme.

    Ryan is an avid sports fan and enjoys a wide range of sports. He has played football since the age of 6 currently plays for Fulbourn Institute based around Cambridge and plans to take up either squash or badminton in the near future.

    Lee joined LIVING SPORT in May 2008. He has working in sport for over 20 years with the past 10 being at a senior management level. He starting out as a coach specialising in racquet sport before moving into Facility Management and then onto Sport Development at District and then County Level

    Lee’s role is as Operations Manager for LIVING SPORT and LIVING SPORT Service CIC the trading arm of the charity. His main responsibilities are to ensure National Governing Bodies of Sport are able to link into the county’s networks in order to ensure that Cambridgeshire and Peterborough has a thriving range of sports opportunities supported by the sport themselves, and to drive forward the development of Coaching:HQ a recruitment consultancy that Recruit Develops and Deploys coaching to deliver for partners programmes.

    Lee has been an active sport participant all his life and currently plays golf with a handicap of 10 and enjoys long distance running.

    Simon has been with LIVING SPORT since its inception, having previously led the Cambridgeshire Active Sports Partnership, and prior to this he was a regional and national Youth Development Manager with the sport of hockey.

    His role is to lead and manage LIVING SPORT, working closely with the Chairman and Board. This involves representing LIVING SPORT, and indeed sport, with key partner organisations and strategic partnerships, highlighting the contribution of sport to a wide variety of political and local agendas and working to attract resources into sport in the area, with a key aim being to increase adult participation in sport and physical activity. 

    Simon also acts as Secretary of GOLD, the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Coordinating Group for the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. Outside of work Simon supports a variety of local groups, as Trustee of Natural High and Huntingdon Gymnastics Club and Team Leader of Kings Cliffe Active.  He regularly umpires hockey, is keen on sailing, canoeing and rowing and golf, but is not currently participating in any of this as often as he would like.

  • Rebecca Gilbertson

    Rebecca started work in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough in 2004 after graduating from University with a Sport Science degree, As Active Sports Swimming Development Officer, moving into LIVING SPORT at the start in 2007. Rebecca started the Events role in April 2008, and has recently taken a second role as Ability PLUS Sports Development Officer.

    As Events Coordinator Rebecca is responsible for organising the Youth Games PLUS; the biggest Disability Sports festival in the region; Playground to Podium, sees her organising the  County Athlete Assessment days (CAAD’s)and liaising with schools, the 6 target sport NGB’s and EFDS. The final major event is the County Sports Awards, in association with the Cambridge News.

    In May 2011 Rebecca was recruited to the new role as Ability PLUS Sports Development officer, where she will be working closely with the Ability PLUS Group (Formerly the County Disability Sports Forum) and other partners to coordinate and implement the development plan for disability sport in the county.

    Rebecca’s sport is swimming and competed at international level in disability swimming until 2005. Rebecca is a past president of Beds ASA (President in 2009-10) and is still their Disability Secretary a voluntary post she has held since 2006. Before taking up full time hours at LIVING SPORT, Rebecca a Level 3 coach was head coach of Flitwick Dolphins from January 2010 after been assistant coach at the club since April 2007.

    Ross joined LIVING SPORT in May 2009 and was the Sport Unlimited Project Coordinator before starting as the Sports Projects Coordinator in March 2011.

    Ross’ key responsibility include the coordination and management of the Sportivate programme within Cambridgeshire & Peterborough. The Sportivate programme aims at getting more 14-25 year olds into sport by supporting organisation looking to deliver 6 week blocks of activity. Other key work areas for Ross include LIVING SPORT’s commitment to support club development, mainly through National Governing Body (NGB) partnership working. LIVING SPORT’s club development work will look to work with sports clubs and NGBs to enhance the experience it gives new and existing members through appropriate advice, education, training and support.

    Ross has played many different sports since a young age, with hockey becoming his main sport. He is currently competing in the National Premier League with Cannock HC.

    Adam was recruited into the LIVING SPORT team in June 2010 after graduating in Bsc Sport and Exercise Science from Coventry University.

    A main emphasis of Adam's role is to co-ordinate the Get Back Into programme, a programme developing opportunities for adults to try a new sport or get back into sport after a long abscence, and co-ordinating the Dancing for Fun and Better Health Bursary scheme, a funding scheme helping local dance and movement instructors create new classes for the 50+. Adam's role also includes developing LIVING SPORT's marketing and communication tools including the newsletter and the website and its features, ensuring it is kept up-to-date and developing and amalgamating databases to improve information management. 

    Adam has played competitive football from an early age including at County level and he is currently playing for Eaton Socon FC in the Cambridgeshire Kershaw Premier Division. Adam has also recently completed his Level 3 in Tutoring in Sport

  • Claire Scott

    Claire joined LIVING SPORT in July 2008, from the fitness industry, to coordinate Dancing for Fun and Better Health, part of Age UK national programme ‘fit as a fiddle’ and in December 2010 took up the role of Project Manager for Health and Adult Participation.

    Dancing for Fun and Better Health promotes and delivers dance and movement opportunities within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough for the over 50’s. With the emphasis on creating relaxed, social, and non intimidating classes to increase physical activity. Classes are in sheltered housing, and community settings. Within the Projects Manager role she manages members of the LIVING SPORT team with responsibilities for Get back Into, and Active Workplaces.

    Claire was a competitive gymnast, but now enjoys taking part in fitness classes with friends. Claire occasionally teaches older adult exercise classes, is a qualified trampoline coach, and has recently joined a local sports club committee.

    Claire joined LIVING SPORT in January 2007 as the Leadership and Volunteering Projects Coordinator and in December 2010 became Projects Manager with responsibility for events and Voluntary and Community sector work. 

    She is running the new Sports Makers project which is being launched in September which will use the inspirational pull of London 2012 to encourage people to volunteer in their local community at sports clubs or sports events. Claire leads on Voluntary and Community Sector work and Children and Young People work (including the new School Games Local Organising Committee), working with sports clubs to improve their volunteer management and coordinates volunteers for the Youth Games PLUS.  Claire is the Cambridgeshire Cricket Board’s vCricket Volunteer Coordinator as well as being the LIVING SPORT Designated Child Protection Officer. As Projects Manager role she manages members of the LIVING SPORT team with responsibilities for Events, Ability PLUS and Sportivate.

    Claire took part in her first 10K this year, has a number of volunteering roles in sport and youth work and  enjoys walking her dog.
