On Saturday 21st January 2017, the Guildhall in central Cambridge hosted the first ever Let’s Go Girls Fitness Festival and threw open its doors to nearly 200 women and girls looking to up their activity levels and generally lead healthier lives. Attendees were invited to attend up to seven different class tasters including Zumba (including Zumba Gold – a more accessible, seated option), Acrobalance, Cardio Tennis and a very practical and topical ‘Tackling Office Posture’ mobility workshop delivered by HeadStart Clinics. After an energetic class there were teas and coffees on sale along with Raw and Delicious’ handmade cakes.
Event attendees were able to talk to many different activity providers from in and around Cambridge including some lesser known activities such as roller derby, American football, cheerleading and burlesque chair fitness. Everyone Health and Chesterton Sport Centre were providing mini MOTs and InBody Analysis readings; showing the breakdown of muscle, fat and water within the body and M&S Cambridge were showcasing their latest active wear range and providing expert sports bra fittings.
Lorraine Bald from Everyone Health tweeted “Great day networking and encouraging woman back into sport! 2017 get your fitness grove on!”
Following the event Michelle Chester posted on Facebook “Acro balance was so much fun!”
Gabrielle Klein posted: “Thank you for a great event! Tried quite a few new things and got more on the to-do list.”
The event was kindly supported by Grosvenor and the Cambridge Quy Mill Hotel and Spa and was part of Living Sport’s greater Let’s Go Girls campaign.
