Name: James Mills

Sport: Football

1. What inspired you to be a ref?

Nothing really inspired me to become a referee; it was always something I wanted to do.

2. What you think of professional football (players, ref’s, clubs etc)

I think that professional footballers need to pay more respect to referees in general because if the ref makes a decision there are normally about 4 or 5 players crowding around him. Especially Manchester United. Also certain players in general totally disrespecting the laws of the game, an instance of this would be Wayne Rooney against West Ham swearing into the television camera. He wasn’t thinking about the millions of young children who play on a Saturday and Sunday who aspire to be him, which leads them to doing the same.

3. What are your values?

I aspire to be fair and honest to all and respect other people’s opinions

4. What would be your biggest ambition?

My biggest ambition is to become a professional referee and ref in the premier league. To referee the FA cup final or the Champions league final would also have to be a big ambition of mine.

5. Any funny/interesting/unusual experiences on the pitch/running the line?

I have not yet had many instances on the pitch or when I have ran the line because I am still quite a newly qualified referee

6. What are your personality traits that make you a good ref?

Some traits that make my personality good to be a referee are: Confidence, the ability to be a fair ref & my high fitness levels.
