How to volunteer

If you are interested in volunteering you need to decide….

  • how much time you can spare
  • decide what you are interested in
  • what sort of role you might be able to do (sports clubs often need volunteers other than coaches, they need administration help, website designers, treasurers and lots more)
  • are you prepared to travel

Once you decide what you want to do you need to look for a local volunteering opportunity. You can use the Volunteer Centres or contact a local club you know or find a new club.

When you have approached the club you need to arrange to meet them to discuss what you can offer and what their volunteer needs are. The club will need to do a Criminal Records Bureau (www.crb.gov.uk) check on you and hopefully they will be able to give you a role description so you know what is expected of you.  Example role descriptions.
