Young People

It is recommended that young people aim to be active for at least one hour per day. You don't have to spend all your free time working out though - walking to school or college, riding your bike or playing football in the park all count too!

As well as making you feel good, regular exercise can also help keep you looking fit and healthy.

Benefits of keeping active - Besides being fun and social, playing sports can help:

  • prevent illness
  • make you stronger, more supple and improve your stamina
  • lose or maintain your body weight and improve your body image
  • Boost confidence and self-esteem
  • Meet new people, have fun, feel part of a team
  • Find something you're good at

LIVING SPORT delivers a number of projects to help you get involved in sport and physical activity. Sportivate is a brand new project to get young people aged 14 to 25 years old who don't do much much sport, involved in weekly coaching sessions. These sessions could range from american football to cheerleading, from dancing to sailing.

To find out about projects happening around you, you can contact LIVING SPORT'S Sportivate Coordinator Ross on 01487 849915 or visit your local leisure centre.

If you're already interested in a sport and would like to join a club visit the LIVING SPORT club database or go to Cambridgeshire.net to find a club in your area.

To find out more about activities for young people, visit the Youthoria website. Youthoria is the Cambridgeshire County Council website for young people. It contains loads of information about keeping healthy, finding activities to do, volunteering opportunities, job adverts and more.
