LIVING SPORT sports awards winner goes on to
win regional BBC awards
Congratulations to Swavesey Village College, who won our School of the Year award for also getting the top prize in the same category at the BBC East Sports awards.

The college was recognised for encouraging young people of all abilities to participate in sport, through PE lessons, after-school clubs and clubs in the community.
Swavesey Village College walked away with a trophy and accolades at the ceremony on 8 December 2008 at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, where Paula Radcliffe was a surprise guest. Reuben Hopper, Head of Department and PE teacher Simon Russell were there to collect the award.

Sports people and supporters of sport honoured in the county
Dedicated sportsmen and women, coaches, volunteers and supporters were honoured for their sporting achievement at the LIVING SPORT sports awards at Comberton Performance Centre in Cambridge on 4 November 2008.
During a glittering ceremony, hosted by BBC Radio Cambridgeshire with support from Cambridge News, individual winners were awarded a trophy, plus prize and goodies, for their achievements. They were also put forward to the regional finals to be hosted by BBC East in December 2008.
Runners-up and nominees in eight categories were also rewarded with a certificate presented to them on the night.

A Young Activator has been appointed to form a sub-group of GOLD (Group for Olympic Legacy Development) , so young people can influence policy.

As part of the Sport Unlimited initiative, LIVING SPORT is using funding to increase the number of activities available. More and more activites are available.
