Baton Twirling Baton twirling is a competitive sport similar to rhythmic gymnastics. It requires good co-ordination skills to perform a routine which moves a balanced metal rod with the hands, whilst moving the body. Performances can be solo or part of a team. Routines are often performed to music performed by a matching band, in which instance the performers are named Majorettes.
