Disability Football
Two forms of football are played at the Paralympic Games:
Five-a-side - for athletes with visual impairments Seven-a-side - for athletes with cerebral palsy
Both games use modified FIFA rules. Two teams compete, of four blind athletes and one sighted or visually impaired goalkeeper on the field as well as five substitutes. Each team also has a guide behind the opponent’s goal to direct teammates as they shoot at goal. The aim of the game is for players to pass the ball to teammates and to kick the ball into the opponent’s goal. A special ball which makes a sound as it moves is used.
