Rounders

Rounders is a team sport, two teams with a maximum of nine players compete. The teams take it in turns to field and bat. Like cricket game play is based on innings, points are scored (‘rounders’) when a batter hits the ball and completes a circuit of the diamond formation, set out by four bases. A half ‘rounder’ is scored if a batter makes it to the second base or a batter completes the circuit without hitting the ball. A hard, white leather ball with a cork centre is used. Bats are used which are similar in shape to those used in baseball and softball, but they are smaller.
