Rowing Rowing is one of the oldest Olympic sports. 1 to 8 people propel a long, narrow boat with one oar each side. It is a very physically demanding sport, demanding strength from both the arms and the legs. Commonly the sport is performed on water however; it can also be performed inside on single person rowing machines. Participants compete against each other to record the quickest time over a fixed distance.
