Sayers Just Missed on Medal 21 August 2008

Goldie Sayers just missed out on bronze to finish fourth in the Javelin Final, by 0.38m. Goldie threw a new British record in the first round, achieving 65.75m, she continued to throw over 65m in the fourth round but it was not enough.


Clarke finishes fourteenth 19 August 2008

Will Clarke finished fourteenth in the Triathalon, with a time of 1:50:32. Clarke said he was disappointed with his performance, despite it being his first Olympic appearance.


Smith Wins First Male Individual Medal for a Century 17 August 2008

Louis Smith has become the first male gymnast to win an individual medal for a century. Smith won bronze in the Pommel Horse Final. After performing his score of 15.725 placed him in second, taking him ahead of all but one of the five men who had competed before him. The next performance came from Croatian Filip Ude who also scored 15.725, however due to fewer deductions on countback for artistic merit he took the silver from Louis.


Mark Foster Competes at Fifth Olympics 14 August 2008

Mark Foster medal pursuit at his fifth Olympic Games has ended in the heats of the 50m freestyle heats. He finished in sixth place.


Keatings Puts Up Strong Fight 14 August 2008

Daniel Keatings achieved a high pommel horse and vault score as he competed in the Men's All-Around Final. He scored 15.700 and 15.800 respectively, he completed an All-Around score of 89.000 to finish 20th.


GB Men's Hockey lose 13 August 2008

Great Britain's Men Hockey squad lost against the Netherlands 1-0. The team put up a strong fight by keeping the Netherlands to only a handful of opportunities but, in the final few minutes the Netherlands scored from a penalty corner.

Glenn Kirkham was the vice-ceptain for the game.


Brave Fight From Alex O'Connell 12 August 2008

Alex O'Connell put on a brave fight in the individual sabre. Despite winning first blood he lost by 14 wins to 15 against the Russian athlete.


Great Britain Women's Hockey Fight Back 12 August 2008

Great Britain Women's Hockey team scored 2 goals in 3 minutes to draw 2-2 with Argentina, the bronze medalists in Athens in 2004. Goals were scored by Sarah Thomas and Mel Clewlow.

Jo Ellis came on as a sub on the sixth minute.


Great Britain Men's Hockey Make Flying Start 11 August 2008

Glenn Kirkham was part of the winning GB Men's Hockey team against Pakistan. The team won four goals to two. Goals came from Jame Tindall, Rob Moore, Ashley Jackson, Matthew Daly.


Marissa King out off the Olympics 10 August 2008

Great Britain's women's Artistic Gymnastics team failed to qualifiy for the finals. Marissa King performed well with individual scores of Vault: 14.875, Uneven Bars: 13.475, Beam: 14.325, Floor: 13.750. She achieved a total score of 56.425. The team finished fifth with a score of 232.425.


Great Britain Women's Off to a Bad Start 9th August 2008

Great Britain women's Hockey team started their Beijing campaign off on the wrong foot, losing 5-1 to Germany, the reigning champions.

Jo Ellis was in the starting line-up.


Louis Smith Through to Pommel Horse Final 9 August 2008

Louis Smith qualified for a place in the men's Pommel Horse finalafter finishing 5th in the qualifying round with a score of 15.325.The final takes place on Sunday 17 August.


Daniel Keatings Through to All-Around Final 9 August 2008

Daniel Keatings qualified for a place in the men's individual final after finishing 22nd in the qualifying round with a score of 88.950. The final takes place on Thursday 14 August.


Mark Foster to Carry Flag at the Opening Ceremony 6 August 2008

Mark foster has been selected to be the flag-bearer of the union jack at the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony on Friday. Mark will be the first swimmer to carry the Union Jack at the Olympic Games since the 1964 Tokyo Games. This will be the fifth Games for Mark.

The opening ceremony takes place on Friday 8 August at 8pm (1pm our time).


Louis Smith and Daniel Keatings arrive in Olympic Village 28 July 2008


Louis Smith and Daniel Keatings were amongst the first Gymnasts and Divers tomove into the Olympic Village in Beijing. The athletes will be staying in one of the 96 apartment blocks which Team GB has been allocated. The village boosts a video arcade and a food hall the size of four football pitches, offering cuisine from all around the world. To help the athletes from Great Britain feel more at home Team GB has shipped in a red telephone box.

The Olympic Village will be the athlete’s home for four weeks.


Ellis Scores in Final Warm-Up Match 28 July 2008

Great Britain Ladies Hockey team won their final warm-up game in Hong Kong. Jo Ellis scored in the 2-0 win over New Zealand. The team have a tough start to the campaign, as they play Germany, the reigning Olympic champions, on Sunday 10 August.
