Sports clubs in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are being encouraged to take advantage of the support and funding available to them and the benefits of working together through a series of club forums being held during May.
The purpose of the forums is to raise awareness amongst clubs of the support provided by Living Sport and other agencies such as Sport England; to create meaningful links between sports clubs and share ideas and good practice; and to improve communication across sport in the county.
A number of topics are proposed, including developing social media to promote club activity, understanding tax requirements, advice on structuring clubs in the most effective way, and an overview of funding available to clubs and how they can access it.
Simon Fairhall, Chief Executive of Living Sport said “A big part of our role at Living Sport is to engage with clubs, go out to them and assist them to help sustain and grow their sports. We worked with 150 clubs in 2016, and through these forums wish to talk to as many clubs as possible about their needs in the local areas, and understand the best way to support them in the future.”
Each forum will run from 7 – 9pm and the dates and venues are:
- Cambridge and County Bowls Club on Tuesday 9th May
- Neale-Wade Academy in March on Thursday 11th May
- Paradise (Swimming Pool) Ely on Tuesday 16th May and
- Peterborough Rugby Club on Thursday 18th
