Hinchingbrooke School’s Boccia team represented East Anglia in the U19 Lord’s Taverners School Boccia Finals at the English Institute for Sport in Sheffield on Tuesday 30 April. The team played 3 pool games losing two, one to the eventual winners and reigning champions Angmering from the South East and the other to eventual beaten finalists, St George’s Academy from the East Midlands. Their final pool game saw them beat a team representing the Village School, London, to see them in a play-off for 5-6 place against St Mary’s College, Hull representing Yorkshire where they came out victorious with a 5:1 win. They entered the competition as County and Regional Champions and can now say they are the 5th best school boccia team in the Country.
The competition also saw Jabe Peake awarded Boccia England Young player of the year presented by Chris Ratcliffe, Boccia England’s CEO, a fitting end to Jabe’s 8 years at Hinchingbrooke School captaining the boccia team and gaining a place in the Boccia England training programme.
