Nick Dempsey claimed his first ever world title this week.
Dempsey, 29, who grew up in Peterborough, led the event going into the final round in Weymouth and managed to keep his cool to become the first Briton to take the crown since Barry Edgington in 1992.
The 2004 Olympic bronze medalist said: "It is just awesome. Last year I was a broken man after Beijing - to go into the medal race joint first and then come fourth was heartbreaking
"This year is what it was all about for me - my whole focus has been this week. I have always wanted to be world champion so this is probably the pinnacle of my career."
