Peterborough City Rowing Club member Tim Ellis has won a gold medal at the World Rowing Masters Regatta in Vienna.
Ellis, racing for the RAF but a member of Peterborough City, powered his way to victory in the Veteran C single sculls in a time of 3mins 48.1secs.
The Wittering based star left it until the last quarter of the 1000m course before really turning on the power and opening up a four-second winning margin on the German boat in second. Alongside City clubmate Steve Tuck, Ellis also took fifth place in the Veteran D double sculls.
City also picked up four second place finishes at the event with Hayley Marsters, Jo Canton and Anita Carter picking up silvers as part of a composite coxed eight with rowers from Leicester and Cambridge that won the Veteran A, B and C events. Joan Heath was the other runner-up in the Women's Veteran F single sculls. Heath then paired up with gold medal winner Ellis to take third in the Mixed Veteran D double sculls.
