Peterborough Karting ace Callum Bowyer regained the winning feeling during his most successful outing of the 2009 season. The 15 year-old city prodigy claimed a first-ever victory at KF3 level in the latest round of the National Super 1 Series at Larkhall in Scotland.
This is Bowyer's debut season in this category and it has been affected by both budgetary problems and regular slices of bad luck, but his latest performance meant he had something to cheer when claiming first in one of three qualifying heats in his Chris Rogers-backed kart before coming fourth in the grand final.
Bowyer, who hopes to emulate Lewis Hamilton’s F1 success one day, had the handicap of starting on the outside in the showpiece race but was still chuffed as he climbed up two places to fifth in the overall standings.
The final round of the Championship is at the Fulbeck track in Lincolnshire next month.
