Cambridge Rugby Club are hosting a ‘Boys and their Toys’ rugby fundraiser on Saturday 10 October in aid of prostate cancer research at Addenbrooke's Hospital (via Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust), which will include entertainment such as vintage car and motorbike displays, archery and of course, rugby!
The Club hope to raise awareness of men’s health through the event and raise funds for prostate cancer research, which takes place at Addenbrooke’s Department of Urology. Every year, this busy department sees thousands of men from across the East of England and also receives oncology-related referrals from across the UK.
David Neal, Professor of Surgical Oncology at Addenbrooke’s said: “Each year 34,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in this country. It can be a killer disease, and we need to understand more about it through research, so we can advance treatment programmes. Raising money in a fun way will help raise awareness of the condition, increase the breadth of our work and let us purchase the very latest medical equipment to help treat dads, grandads and sons from this region and across the UK.”
Gates and bars will open from 12 noon for a great day of entertainment for all the family, which will culminate in a rugby match between Cambridge Rugby Cub and Blackheath at 3pm. Tickets are just £10 each in advance. Alternatively, tickets can be bought on the gate for £12.
