Peterborough's three Channing brothers boxed for Repton ABC in an inter-club match with Sunderland at the Durham’s Ramside Inn.
The youngster of the brothers, 12 year old Ben Channing, took his record to four wins from five starts when he boxed Michael Seaman. He produced some clever boxing to be the unanimous winner on all the judges’ cards after the three rounds.
Callum Channing, 14, was disappointed as he suffered a broken nose after an accidental clash of heads his opponent T. Atkinson, forcing the bout to be stopped in the second round, and meaning Callum will be likely to face a six week lay-off.
Michael Channing, the eldest brother at 20 years of age, boxed an old foe in 19 year-old Lewis Sheriff. Sheriff was looking to avenge two previous defeats by the Peterborough fighter, but came up short as Channing boxed cleverly to land some stunning shots and prove elusive.
Michael was also awarded the best boxer of the night and given his trophy by Sunderland Olympic boxing bronze medallist Tony Jeffries, and will next be in action this weekend for Repton in a multi-nations tournament in Cyprus.
