Steve Curtis has been named as one of the top youngsters in the Eastern Region by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA).
Curtis, along with Essex’s Aaron Lother, has shared the 2009 Young Sailors of the Year award for the East. The pair had both won the RYA Youth RIB Championship for the second successive year – Curtis taking junior victory and Lowther the senior title.
12 year old Curtis, a Kimbolton School pupil, aims to emulate his namesake, six-time world powerboat champion Steve Curtis. Curtis took up the sport at the age of eight, is an assistant RYA instructor at Paxton Lakes Sailing Club and holds a RYA power boating Level 2 certificate.
