Ely Standard Sports Awards 2009

The Ely Standard Sports Awards 2009 took place last Thursday evening (26th November) to reward the sporting elite of East Cambridgeshire.

The star-studded event was held at the City of Ely Community College and recognised local stars in nine awards.

The Youth Achievement for Girls award went to Flavia Kumar, while the Boys award was presented to Jack Knight. Daisy Glover and Brian Paddington were rewarded for their sporting efforts over the past year with the Adult Achievement awards for Women and Men respectively.

Sid Wales was recognised as the Unsung Hero, while Charlie James was handed the Liam Fairhurst Award. The Services to Sport award was earned by Trevor Hopkinson, and Brian Paddington collected a second award for Veteran Achievement.

The final of the nine awards was for School of the Year which went to King’s Junior School in Ely.
