Two return as Tae Kwon Do British Champions

Greg Hibbert and Keiran McMullon returned from the British Tae Kwon Do Championships in Cardiff as champions.

The duo, from the Mark Farnham School of Tae Kwon Do, won both their divisions and joined forces with 11 year old Jordan Murray to claim silver medal in the boys heavyweight blue/red belts division.

Hibbert, 15, was first in the cadets blue belt heavyweight sparring while McMullon, a year his junior, won gold in the boys red belt heavyweight sparring. The three lads will now be looking to make the World Championships next year.

Shane Parker-Mellows, from the newly formed branch of the school in Mildenhall, earned a place on the medal rostrum with third in the sparring to claim the club’s first competition achievement.

The Ely Branch had four medal winners; Britni Edwards first in sparring and second in patterns, Lynsay Williams was first in the ladies’ sparring, Duncan Earlam was second in the team sparring and Danika Hall came third in the sparring.

Fellow club member Warren Vice was awarded the International Fighter of the Year accolade for the fourth time in his career, while Farnham himself was rewarded his 6th Dan Black Belt after 25 years of work, making him one of a handful of Tae Kwon Do instructors to earn the rank or higher in the UK.

Mark Farnham’s School are welcoming new members at their branches across Cambridgeshire. Anyone interested in joining should contact Mark Farnham on 07771 644460 or 01533 841880.
