EFDS celebrate 1000 days until London

From Thursday 3rd December, there were 1000 days to go before the London 2012 Paralympics. The English Federation of Disability Sport, the umbrella body of sport for disabled people in England, were celebrating this landmark and are looking forward to the next two years.

The English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) work at a strategic level, seeking to influence the policies and programmes of those agencies directly and indirectly involved in the provision of opportunities for disabled people in sport and physical activity.

They are committed to improving opportunities for all disabled people to participate in sport and physical activity at a level of their choice. The next two years promise to be an exciting time for all involved.

Colin Chaytors, the CEO for the EFDS, said:

'We are really looking forward to the London 2012 Paralympics and the amazing prospects such a high profiled event will bring. In Britain, we have so many talented disabled athletes to be proud of. Behind those athletes are coaches, volunteers and other developmental support who share the same passion as us to continue the good work. EFDS are dedicated to working with all parties over the next two years to ensure we not only make the 2012 Paralympics a success for Britain, but create a long lasting legacy for all disabled people in sport.'

Coincidently, the 1000 day mark also falls on International Day for Disabled People, so it will be a memorable celebration.

The London 2012 Paralympics will run from 29 August- 5 September and features 20 sports in the programme, breaking down into disciplines and events.
