Rugby star Goode set for the top

The future looks great for Alex Goode as his Saracens team are flying high at the top of the Guinness Premiership, he signed a new three-year contract just before Christmas and has received high praise.

The 21-year-old Duxford-based player has always been held in high esteem, having caught the eye at fly-half through the England age group teams. This has seen Goode develop into a first-choice selection at full-back for Saracens this season.

Saracen’s only slight blip was a 12-12 draw with Worcester Warriors, leaving them with a record at Christmas of played 10, won nine and drawn one.

Goode is now being tipped for a future in the national team by Coach Brendan Venter, and there is no secret that the former Cambridge player is being groomed for the No 10 shirt in the Saracens team.

The once Leys School pupil is relishing is role as part of the table-topping outfit but is keeping a level head on Saracen’s success and focusing on continuing to produce the goods on the pitch.
