Fixed term contract until January 2012 with the possibility of extension until August 2012. The Council would also welcome applicants – from within the Council or another organisation - looking for a secondment until August 2012.
The 2012 Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games and the Cultural Olympiad offer the opportunity of a generation to bring together partners and residents to maximise the benefits and leave a lasting legacy for Cambridgeshire.
Based the Community Learning and Development Directorate, you will work with partners from diverse sectors at local and regional level, promoting joined-up working and helping to deliver a programme of activities related to the 2012 Olympiad. This approach will provide more effective working and increased capacity to seek and develop opportunities to deliver projects, initiatives and events, leading to long-lasting benefits for the well-being, health, education and skills of our residents and communities.
A skilled, clear communicator, who is confident in working with the media, you will act as an advocate for 2012 activities, exchange information and promote activities in a way that will engage and enthuse partners and ensure participation by all sections of the community. You will also be required to devise action plans and ensure they are delivered.
Your background may be in local government or the private or voluntary sectors and could include the creative industries, managing or commissioning events and projects or developing partnerships. What is crucial is that you are an accomplished influencer and negotiator who is positive and outcome-focused and believes in the value of culture and sport as catalysts for personal and community development.
