Nicky Brett came back from first round defeat in the pairs with Greg Harlow to get his singles campaign on track at the Potters Holidays World Indoor Bowls Championships.
The Ely clubmates suffered a shock loss to Australian duo Brett Wilkie and Mark Casey on Monday, but world number 19 Brett beat compatriot Stuart Airey 8-5, 7-7 in the opening round of the singles.
Brett’s victory will see him join Harlow in the second round and face England’s No 14 seed Simon Skelton next week.
