Martin Adams held off another thrilling comeback by Dave Chisnall to earn his second BDO world title after a 7-5 win in the Lakeside final yesterday.
The Market Deeping star, world champion in 2007, stormed into a three-set lead, and was also 4-2 up, but could only look on as Chisnall, from St Helens, found his doubles to draw level at 4-4. Adams then took a lead of 6-4 before losing the 11th set, but held his nerve to win the match.
England skipper Adams, the No 3 seed and oldest man to win the title at 53, collected the £100,000 top prize to add to £3,000 he won earlier in the match with a maximum checkout.
He won the Winmau World Masters in September and has already set his sights on a Lakeside return next year for what would be a record 18th successive campaign.
