Bowls stars Nicky Brett and Greg Harlow have reached the quarter-final of the men's singles at the Potters Holidays World Indoor Championships yesterday.
The City of Ely players were given tough times, with Brett struggling in the first set against welsh youngster Jarrad Breen before winning 5-5, 8-3 to set up a meeting with former world No 1 David Gourlay, while Harlow beat Australian Ben Twist 10-5, 9-7 to face a clash with fourth seed Paul Foster.
Brett’s success, the first time he has reached the quarter-final stage, may cause problems for his club, as reaching the semi-final means the 35 year old will miss Ely’s Denny Cup quarter-final clash with Egham on Saturday.
