National glory again awaits The Perse School’s under 18 indoor hockey team after they booked their place in next week’s final.
The talented youngsters are on course to retain the title they won last year, but standing in their way are Ipswich School, the team Perse defeated in the 2009 final.
The Cambridge school will be hoping for a similar outcome in Saturday’s showdown if they display the kind of form that saw them qualify. Perse won all four league games in the qualifying competition, before a 5-3 victory against old foes Whitgift in the semi-finals.
Ben Creese was Perse’s top scorer with an impressive eight goals, while England under 18 players Michael Franklin and Adam Miller showed why they have been selected for the national side with displays of real quality.
