Ely Archers held their first ever FITA 25 Competition at Littleport Leisure Centre on Sunday 24th January 2010.
The competition, sponsored by Clickers Archers Ltd, saw Archers assemble from around East Anglia and beyond to compete.
Host Club Ely Archers did not play at their best, but managed third place in the team event while George Mizell took second in the Gents Recurve.
Jolly Archers were the team winners on the day, with Silverspoon beating Ely into second. J.Lipins was the victor in the Gents Recurve single, with Silverspoon’s Stephanie Mountney winning the respective ladies’ competition, while Tony King of Wherry Archers claimed the Recurve double crown.
Other winners on the day included Andrew Jackson, Steph Jackson, Anglea Plater, Dave Slack, Jonas Serna and David Ash.
The Lord Paramount, and one of the founder members of Ely Archers, Dr Peter Hooper, commented, ‘It is great to see that Ely Archers is maintaining a high level of excellence in archery in East Cambridgeshire and that Littleport Leisure Centre continues to be a focal point for the sporting community’.
Graham, proprietor of tournament sponsor Clickers, commented, ‘As a retailer, I like to sponsor shoots like this in order to put something back into the community by supporting clubs like Ely Archers who continue to go from strength to strength’.
