Athletics Masters return with medals

Huntingdonshire Athletics Club pair Penny Butcher and William Bradley proved age is not a factor after returning from the National Masters Indoor Pentathlon Championships in London with a medal each.

Butcher, 51, claimed set three club records on her way to silver in the W50 category, winning the 800m race in the process.

60 year old Bradley, who only returned to the track in November after being inspired by 57 year old clubmate Jennifer Colville’s silver medal win in the British Masters Heptathlon Championships last year, snatched bronze in the M60 category after winning the final event (1,000m) and setting two club records.

Hunts AC had more joy after members Mike Scott, Geoff Brewster and Derek Darnell took home gold medals from the Eastern Veterans AC Indoor Championships, which were held in conjunction with the multi-event championships.
