CCGP working hard to promote golf

With the main golfing season just around the corner, plenty of work has been taking place behind the scenes by the Cambridge County Golf Partnership (CCGP).

A Pro-Am golf event has been scheduled for Friday 7 May at Gog Magog Golf Club in Cambridge, which should raise much-needed funds for the partnership, where teams are expected from every associated club in the County as well as from local businesses.

The CCGP have launched their new website, www.ccgp.co.uk. It provides a valuable resource to golfers and golf club, as it contains information on all the clubs in Cambridgeshire and the latest news and information on the activities of the Partnership.

In addition to this, the County Academy Programme is ready to roll out in the early Spring. This involves 100 juniors being coached on a regular basis by 6 PGA coaches at 3 venues. A large amount of funding will be received from Sport England’s Club and Coach Fund which will also be used to develop and improve golf coaches.

To further promote golf to people of all ages and abilities, a large inflatable net will be touring the area this year. The net provides a safe area within which people can hit golf balls. Confirmed venues for the tour so far are St Neots Golf Club, Reach Fair, 2010 Youth Games PLUS at One Leisure St Ives Outdoor and Waterbeach Feast.

For more information on the work that is being put in by the CCGP, please contact John Harvey on 07506 735925 or john.harvey6@googlemail.com.
