Alfie Smith has put himself in the frame for the England junior squad while booking his place in the quarter-finals of the NACYP Championships.
All Comers boxer Smith came through 13-7 on points in his first national round showdown with Hailsham ABC’s Jamie Smith at under 63 kg in London, before attendeing trials for the national junior squad in Aldershot.
Trials were for those hoping to be called up for the World Youth Championships qualifying tournament in Germany next month, with only eight boxers selected for the England squad.
Haddenham's Tyler Goodjohn hammered Ben Butler, of Shoreham's Adur ABC, 11-1 on points in the first national round at under 71kg to move into the last eight with a commanding display.
