RYA launch new memberships for youngsters

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) has launched two new membership categories dedicated to Youth and Junior members.

Going live in April, the memberships promise to be educational, informative and fun with lots of freebies and activities, which will keep youngsters interested in the sport.

Junior Membership is aimed at primary school children aged 5-11. They will receive a quarterly newsletter in the post, packed with fun stories and illustrations, and a Go Sailing Activity Book, perfect for keeping them occupied on long boating trips. Juniors will also have access to their own RYA Junior website.

The second category is Youth Membership for secondary school youngsters aged 12-17. Youth members will receive a quarterly e-newsletter which will include the latest RYA news, interviews with their sailing heroes and competitions. They also will receive a top sailing book and an exclusive login to the RYA Youth website.

RYA Marketing Operations Manager Paul Bayliss said, ‘We’re really hoping to relate to young people with the launch of these new memberships in a way that the RYA hasn’t previously managed.

By getting people to join us at an early stage, we hope that they’ll understand a bit more about the RYA in the longer term and keep enjoying which ever form of water sports that they enjoy, for years to come.’

For RYA Family Members, Youth and Junior Membership is inclusive. If you join separately, junior membership is £5 and Youth Membership is £14 (£11 by Direct Debit).
