Huntingdonshire AC held its annual winter awards presentation evening at the Eat ‘n Bowl in St Neots with close to 50 athletes, friends and family in attendance.
The following young athletes received their UK Athletics Shine Awards which were earned by scoring points over a broad range of athletic activities:
Megan Cantwell – Yellow Multi-skills, Emily Everett – Yellow Multi-skills, Amelia Cantwell – Green Multi-skills, Charlotte Smith – Green Multi-skills, Freya Triggs – Green Multi-skills, Serenna Wade – Green Multi-skills, Sam Edgley – Blue Multi-skills, Harry Everett – Blue Multi-skills, George Youngs – Blue Multiskills
Amelia Darnell – Gold Level 2 Skills, Alisha Morgan – Gold Level 2 Skills, Rachel Basham – Gold Level 2 Skills, Callum Jagger – Gold Level 2 Skills, Megan Wilson – Bronze Level 2 Skills, Chloe Wilson – Blue Level 2 Skills.
Unable to attend the bowling evening, James Downing and Katie Scholey were getting a good night’s sleep in preparation for the next day’s English Schools Cross Country Championship races held at Heaton Park in Manchester.
Katie was thrilled with her last-minute call up to the Cambridgeshire team and finished the Junior Girls race in 257th place with 11:50. Competing in the Junior Boys race, James fared even better, placing 233rd out of 336 finishers in 14:18.
