Godmanchester Town Cricket Club were able to give the Hunts County under 12 girls team an exciting cricketing celebrity experience after an hour’s coaching session from Charlotte Edwards.
Following the nets opening ceremony on Friday 9th April, by the current England Women’s Captain and Ashes holder, Edwards took the girls through some drills and practice exercises whilst demonstrating to local coaches the differences between development cricket for girls and boys.
The local club will not only benefit from two newly laid practice nets this season but also the addition of three level 1 coaches. The three women have successfully completed their UKCC Level 1 Cricket Coaching Assistant Award.
Tracy Bryden, who received 100% funding to undertake the course through the regional East-Links project managed by LIVING SPORT, will be working with the youth section of the club.
Both Helen Clarke and Ella Waughman, who play for Godmanchester Ladies, will be hoping to use some of their new skills to support ladies senior team coach Dave Ash during training sessions.
If you are interested in further information on joining a local cricket team or receiving funding to support coaching qualifications, please contact Helen Clarke on 01487 849922 or helen.clarke@livingsport.co.uk.
