Williamson returns from injury to win gold

Paralympic swimmer Fran Williamson made a successful return from injury by winning gold at the British International Disability Championships in Sheffield.

The 24 year old was first in the women's 50m backstroke and recorded a time of 1min 05.86sec to achieve the World Championships qualifying time, while the silver medal went to Portugal's Simone Fragoso, while Samantha Neill won the bronze.

The Colchester Phoenix swimmer, from Cottenham, recently appointed Ed Williams, founder of the Cambridge Swimming Academy, as coach and the partnership appears to be paying off.

Williamson won silver and bronze medals at the Beijing Paralympics in 2008, and is aiming for gold in London in two years.
