Connell impresses with 586th in Marathon

Despite ‘hitting the wall’ with 10 kilometres to go, Huntingdonshire AC’s Dave Connell held on to lead the club home in the London Marathon, finishing in 586th place.

Connell was on 2:36 pace at the halfway stage, but eventually ended up with a time just under 2:53.  Dave was disappointed with his time, but he still managed to beat almost 36,000 runners.

A closely contested race developed with the next four Hunts AC runners all finishing within 32 seconds of each other and all 11 of the club runners finishing this prestigious race.

Three additional runners took part in the Shakespeare Marathon held at Stratford-upon-Avon. Leading for the club out of the 844 finishers was Martin Rowe who completed the course in 81st place while Julia McIntosh ran superbly to place third in the Women’s 45 - 54 age category.
