A strange but unique sight greeted visitors to the sports hall at Cambridge Regional College on Saturday 17th April.
It was the venue for the first unicycle hockey match to be played in Cambridge, and was hosted by the Cambridge One Wheelers, who were formed four years ago and have played in a number of UK tournaments.
Unicycle hockey is based on ice hockey - but with a lot less contact - and which uses ice hockey sticks, a tennis ball and small goals. There are five players in each team, of mixed age, sex and skill levels, with matches lasting 15 minutes each.
Teams from Cardiff, Derby, London and Horsham took part in the round-robin event, and it was the side from Horsham that emerged victorious.
Cambridge One Wheelers practice on a Friday night at Cambridge Regional College in Kings Hedges Road from 6pm to 7pm, and anyone interested in taking part needs to be able to ride a unicycle.
