LIVING SPORT are now accepting applications from any organisation who wish to secure Sport Unlimited funding to support their activities, with the deadline to submit an application to deliver in the autumn term (September-December) as Friday 28th May.
Sport Unlimited is an initiative from Sport England which is an integral part of the Government’s PE and Sport Strategy for Young People, often referred to as the 5 Hour Offer.
The programme is aimed at providing opportunities for young people in a wide range of sporting activities who are ‘semi sporty’ (those currently participating in 2-3 hours of sport a week) during school term time.
LIVING SPORT is working closely with Local Authorities, School Sports Partnerships, National Governing Bodies, Community Clubs and Youth Groups, and are always actively looking for providers who are willing to organise introductory course for the target participants.
Each individual Sport Unlimited activity will run for 8 weeks, 1 hour duration for each session and take place during term time. After attracting the semi sporty participants to take part in the projects, the sessions must be delivered in a fun and safe environment to provide the best opportunity for the young people to continue in the sport once the 8 week programme has finished.
Funding is available to support projects which can cover a number of different aspects associated with each individual activity. This may include coaching, venue or even transport. The average grant size is around £20 per head i.e. if you target retention is 20 people to your session you could gain approx £400 funding.
If you feel your organisation will benefit from Sport Unlimited funding todeliver an activity then make sure your application is submitted in time.
