Robertson on form to win World Snooker title

Newly crowned World Champion Neil Robertson hailed an incredible night after he ground out an 18-13 victory over Graeme Dott in the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship final.

In a marathon match at the Crucible, Cambridge-based Robertson became the first champion from outside Britain since Canada's Cliff Thorburn in 1980.

The 28 year old upset his mother when he gave up on education to pursue in a snooker career and arrived in England with only £500, but the decision has paid off to the tune of £250,000 prize money, capping off a rags-to-riches story.

Robertson had beaten Ali Carter in the semi-final and Steve Davis in the quarter-final on his way to Championship success and now hopes to have inspired fellow Austrailians to follow in his footsteps.
