Cambridge County Council are looking to employ a Coordinator for the 2012 Olympiad with Monday 7th June 2010 as the closing date for applications.
The 2012 Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games and the Cultural Olympiad offer a once in a generation opportunity to bring together partners and residents to maximise the benefits and leave a lasting legacy for Cambridgeshire.
Based within county Libraries, Learning and Culture Directorate, the coordinator will work with partners from diverse sectors at local and regional level, promoting collaboration and helping to deliver a programme of activities related to the 2012 Olympiad.
This approach will provide more effective working and increased capacity to seek and develop opportunities to deliver projects, initiatives and events, leading to long-lasting benefits for the well-being, health, education and skills of our residents and communities.
A skilled, clear communicator, who is confident in working with the media, the employee will act as an advocate for 2012 activities, exchange information and promote activities in a way that will engage and enthuse partners and ensure participation by all sections of the community. They will also be required to devise action plans and ensure they are delivered.
A background may be in local government or the private or voluntary sectors and could include the creative industries, managing or commissioning events and projects or developing partnerships. What is crucial is that the coordinator is an accomplished influencer and negotiator who is positive, outcome-focused and believes in the value of culture and sport as catalysts for personal and community development.
It will be a fixed term contract until July 2012 with the possibility of extension until September 2012, working 22 hours a week with a salary of £30,738 - £33,874 pro rata per annum. Interviews are to be held on 22nd June 2010.
For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Chris Heaton on 01223 703519.
