Hunts runners compete at Edinburgh Marathon

While the rest of the country enjoyed the hottest day of the year so far, it wasn’t particularly welcomed by the runners in the Edinburgh Marathon, which included Huntingdonshire AC runners Emily Biddle and Samantha Lowings who were taking part in their first ever marathon.

The heat certainly put many runners off as the actual field on the day of just under 10,000 was substantially down from the actual number of entrants. Samantha finished in 5,258th, in a time of 4:31:53 with Emily placing 9,055th in 5:58:03.  It’ll take some cooling down after that effort.

Other female club members were in action in the Southern Women’s League in Mile End, with the team finishing 10th on 94 points.

Meredith Ash, Laurel Phelan and Lily Seach were the pick of athletes successful on the day, with Ash claiming victory in the B 200m , while Phelan finished second in the B 100m and Seach in the same position in the Under 17 Women’s 300m Hurdles. The 4 x 100 team claimed a podium finish with third.
