Peterborough City Rowing Club member Philippa Neill and Beth Astell were in excellent form at the National Schools Regatta last weekend (28th – 29th May).
Held at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham, the event attracts some of the top rowers in the country. Neill and GB partner had to perform close to their best to claim bronze medals on Saturday and silver medals on Sunday.
The duo took bronze in the double sculls before teaming up with two St Neots rowers in the coxless fours and taking silver after winning a fierce battle with City of Oxford. The Oxford team claimed bronze while gold went to the Headington School crew containing the top two rowers in the country.
Neill and Astell are having successful season already after impressive displays at the Munich Regatta last month for GB. Next weekend Neill will be teaming up with some of the best junior rowers in the country to compete in the coxless fours and eight at The Metropolitan Regatta at the Olympic venue Dorney Lake.
