Royston Volunteer Centre has been chosen as one of the nine Volunteering England / Sport England Regional Sporting Champions.
Royston VC will be aiming to increase the number of sports volunteering opportunities and the diversity of those volunteering within grassroots sports clubs locally.
The centre can help sport clubs with; working towards Clubmark accreditation, training on “Valuing your Sports Volunteers”, attracting new external volunteers, identifying additional volunteering roles within clubs, writing opportunity descriptions, promoting opportunities, recognising volunteers of the year.
Royston Volunteer Centre is holding a Volunteer Managers Forum on the 20th July from 2 pm to 4.30 pm for local organisations and community groups to find out how to create Olympic inspired opportunities and also opportunities for other specialist groups.
Out of everyone that has registered an interest in volunteering at the Olympic Park in July 2012 only 23% will be able to be involved. So 77% will be looking for a chance to volunteer in the spirit of 2012, so organisations are wanted to inspire these people to volunteer.
Visit the Royston Volunteer Centre website or email info@roystonvolunteer.org.uk to reserve a place today.
